XAXTI 100 The easy paced XAXTI 100 has been the pioneer Signature event of Xaxti Riders and holds a special place for this Club as well as all who have participated in this 100km ride!
No surprises therefore that there was a whopping response from cyclists all over Goa and beyond for the 4th edition of this much loved event in November 2019. In a first this time a 50km ride the XAXTI 50 was included where the riders would end their ride at the 50km mark. 275 cyclists from across Goa and beyond including 36 women cyclists were flagged off at 6.45 am sharp by Goa based ace endurance cyclist Venuvardhan Reddy from Rabindra Bhavan , Margao!
Xaxti Riders has always tried to showcase the natural beauty of goan hinterlands through its events and the Xaxti think tank goes into a lot of detail while charting out routes which would appeal visually, technically keeping safety in mind. Literally a tour of villages, the cyclist enjoyed cycling through the beautiful pristine villages of Curtorim, Maacasana onto Rivona, Sulcorna, Caurem, Kanguinim, Betul, Assolna, Cavellossim, Colva and back to Rabindra Bhavan.
A fully supported ride, the first Water Point manned by XRs Oliver and Czarina was a welcome stop with iced water and chilled oranges being offered to the riders. Nutty happiness wrapped in cellopane...good old chikki gave respite to the first few hunger pangs since the ride began!
Control Point I at Caurem Forest Gate resembled a picnic! A sumptuous breakfast of bhaji pau and hot batatawadas just out of the kadai made for a perfect energy booster. Flavoured electrolyte- Walyte and Pepsi’s energy drink Sting boosted the energy and spirits further. XR Johnny bab firmly believes in the goodness of rich plum cake which he serves with a flourish! Bananas and some more Chikki made the buffet table look even fuller. To top it all was the festive atmosphere. While this was the Finish Point for the XAXTI 50 riders, those registered for XAXTI 100 had to be reminded of the next 50km to be completed!!
The cut off time for XAXTI 100 was six hours forty five minutes and riders reached well within to enjoy the satisfaction of having completed their goal.
A month before the Xaxti Riders had started a campaign to crowd fund a new racing cycle for a budding cyclist Pradip Kolhapte of Tilamol- Quepem. Club members and well wishers donated enthusiastically and the Polygon Strattos S3 was handed to Pradip Kolhapte.
Every Finisher received a unique wooden Finisher’s plaque as a memento of the event. A wholesome lunch was served to all and it was a happy bunch of cyclists endlessly discussing the ride that was completed and their experiences! The perfect finale of bonhomie shared in the gracious cafeteria of Rabindra Bhavan!
